Sanusi Olatunji

Lagos • Nigeria • Born 1982

Biography

Sanusi Olatunji (b. 1982, Lagos, Nigeria) is a multidisciplinary studio artist whose practice spans multiple mediums, with a focus on fabric collage. Growing up as the only artist in his family in a town where art was not widely embraced, he pursued his passion despite the odds. After earning a degree in art and furthering his education in industrial techniques, Sanusi exhibited across Africa, finding inspiration in Nigeria and creative freedom in South Africa. His fabric collages tell stories of Africa and African children while embracing sustainability through his “Waste is Wealth” approach. He is now an established studio collage artist based in Maryland, USA.
