Robert Derrick (b. 1964, Roseau, Dominica) is a Caribbean-born artist from Dominica whose work captures the vibrancy and rhythm of his homeland. Influenced by Caribbean music, carnival, and performance, he creates dynamic compositions that celebrate culture, resilience, and shared humanity. With a background in graphic and textile design, Derrick works across acrylic painting and experimental digital media, layering textures, patterns, and bold color to merge tradition with innovation. His art explores identity, memory, and transformation through abstraction and symbolism. Derrick has studied and exhibited internationally, including in the United States, Kenya, and Japan, while maintaining a practice firmly rooted in Caribbean heritage. As an educator in the Broward County School System, he inspires students to embrace creativity and problem-solving. In his studio, he continues to explore and evolve, giving visual voice to the rhythms of spirit and culture.
