Raymond Yves Kono

Raymond Yves Kono

Yaoundé • Cameroon • Born 1987

Biography

Kono Raymond Yves (b. 1987, Yaoundé, Cameroon) lives and works in Yaoundé, he graduated from the University of Yaoundé I in the Plastic Arts and Art History sector. Attracted by free figuration, he represents the dreams of young children and adults through human silhouettes which he nicknames ''Ntshi Ntshim'' in the Eton language. Through them, it symbolizes the idea that Humans are resilient beings who turn away from situations to reclaim them. These linear human silhouettes are filled with color, sometimes alone or in groups with upturned faces. This is a pretext for the artist, because the real goal of his work is to question our existence, the environment in which we live and our intangible and material heritage.
