Biography

Madu Chimezie (b. 1987, Imo State, Nigeria) is a contemporary Nigerian visual artist based in Lagos whose work centers on figurative painting in acrylic and oil. A graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu (2013), Chimezie’s distinctive style combines impasto techniques and color splashes to create mesmerizing, realistic forms, often emphasizing predominantly female figures. His work explores emotional depth, human connection, and the beauty and unity of African life, capturing quiet, intimate moments through symbolic gestures, soft light, and layered compositions. Chimezie’s paintings have been exhibited internationally, including in Nigeria, Dubai, Malta, and Morocco, and are held in numerous private collections. He has contributed professionally to ArtHub Gallery and Artpaintinglab in the UAE and is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists, APCAD, and the FCT Council for Art and Culture.
