Chukes

Chukes (b. 1961, California, USA) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Southern California whose practice spans clay, bronze, oil, and mixed media. With a career of over 40 years, he explores the human form through emotional and often surreal interpretations, exaggerating anatomy to reflect the cycles of life, transformation, and rebirth. Chukes has exhibited widely, with more than 30 solo and 60 group shows across the United States and internationally, and his work is included in numerous private collections, including commissions for Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He holds a BFA in Sculpture and Ceramics from California College of Arts and Crafts and an MFA in Sculpture from Claremont Graduate University. A dedicated educator and cultural advocate, Chukes has led lectures and workshops on art and African American history, and his work has been featured in publications such as O, The Oprah Magazine, Ebony, and Essence.
