Biography

CasziB. (Casimir Balibié Bationo, b. 1982, Adjamé, Côte d'Ivoire) is a contemporary painter based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, whose multidisciplinary practice reflects a life shaped by movement and cultural exchange across Africa, Europe, and the United States. Originating from the Lélé ethnic group of northwestern Burkina Faso, CasziB. draws on experiences from Mozambique, Morocco, and beyond to develop a visual language where spontaneous gestures meet refined technical mastery. His paintings explore Africa’s vibrancy, tension, and rhythm through figures that emerge like fragments of memory or dreams, blending delicacy with intensity. Trained in life drawing, photography, lighting, animated film, and three years of intensive contemporary painting, CasziB.’s work synthesizes diverse influences into poetic, evocative compositions. CasziB.’s work is held in public and private collections worldwide, reflecting his ongoing exploration of identity, memory, and the human experience.
