Biography
Talle Bamazi (b. 1964, Kara, Togo) is a Togolese-born artist from Kara, Togo, now based in Columbus, Ohio. Trained initially under his uncle, a traditional Togolese artist, and later at the New York Academy of Art, Bamazi’s work bridges traditional and contemporary African art. He founded KIACA Gallery to support emerging African and African-American artists and educate the public on African culture. Bamazi often incorporates the calabash—a symbol of sustenance, hospitality, and fertility—into his paintings. His monumental portraits of Columbus-area Black artists are featured at the King Arts Complex, and his work continues to celebrate hope, heritage, and the strength of African culture.
